The Precious one (Chapter 1)

The sandstorm was just about to grope them into its clutches, what is this!!! Jake and Frank can feel the ground moving under their feet. The ground separated with a crack so wide to devour them alive. To their surprise it was not the door to hell (Core of earth) but a dark cave with water to their knees. Frank starts praying "Oh God please forgive us for all our sins......." Jake seeing this gets puzzled and exclaims "Franks can you please stop for a moment!!". Both of them experienced an acute thermal changes in their body, from a scorching temperature high enough to barbecue smooth skin to cool water acting like elixir of life.

"Are we still on earth or in heaven?" asked Frank, to which Jake replies sarcastically "you are so unlucky to be still on earth. Shall i help you check-in heaven?".

"How on this earth is this possible? How can there be water below a desert en caved like this. Is this a sign of us getting near to the one we are seeking for?"

Jake is a treasure hunter who has seen more than half the planet and has more than a dozen discoveries to his name but unfortunately he does not have a place to claim as his home. He is tall handsome, cow-boyish and more of a maverick sort of a person. Frank is a Pastor and tricks people by playing Exorcist But in reality he is a coward who sometimes gets terrified by his own play at exorcism.

Jake and Frank were childhood friends and they were fantasized by the story of Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil and its fruit when they were eleven year old. Jake is a sport and want to get hold of the mysterious tree's fruit but he wanted his near dear friend Franks help for this. Though Frank was a poor chap and coward yet he was brilliant at history, religion and facts.

Both of them used to attend the ceremonies at their Church at quintessential ancient Winchester n Town where Frank's Parents held the speech related to Biblical events and Parables. Frank had been a firm believer in God and a reverent theist. In his Childhood he used to act as Pastor (Who he really is now) in stage dramas where he fails miserably every-time due to his stage mis- presence as he fumbled and jumbled all along his act and was regarded as a spoilsport of the plays. His lone friend was Jake who was more of a being belonging to the other phase of the earth who believes only in facts and nothing else. The close they were, their ideologies differed completely.

Both were good at studies but were better at playing. Jake spent most of his days in the local library where he read through books on countries, cultures and heritages. Jake wasn't an atheist but was more attached to facts than stories. He always believed to have born to see the world and and its aesthetics but was strangled to the deserted place by his parents who wanted him to be a successful businessman. Whenever Frank fell in danger there comes the hero with his pocketful tricks to rescue him. Jake always traded Franks rescue with the county carnivals cotton candy. This is how their friendship was.

It was on one fine morning when they were attending the church ceremony. The topic being explained was creation of World by God and the Garden of Eden.

The Precious one (Prologue)

The Story is purely a figment of imagination and has no resemblance to any one or any incident....... Please forgive for any syntactical mistakes...... :)

Jake and Frank were desperately seeking shelter as it was peak of the day with sun overhead and miles of desert all around them. There were no directions nor any human figure to seek help from. What else could they expect in the middle of Sahara. Its been 3 and a half days since they kicked off their journey to find the precious one they were seeking for 17 years. They started strolling against the sun as they were completely wiped off the energy quotient remaining in them. The last packet of food was emptied just a few hours ago. A big monstrous creature was visible at sight at a distance, coming towards them to imbibe them in itself and their was no place to hide. The region was quite infamous for its sandstorms which were believed to have taken lots of souls and grown with ages. Though the idea to escape seems to be impossible both started running to prevent their soul from resting in peace. But the poor souls were mere moles in front of the disaster creature. When both realized their efforts were of no use and will go in vain they stood still and gathered the courage to face the demon of their life chasing them currently. The sandstorm was just about to grope them into its clutches, suddenly........

Why C# .Net?

.Net is now becoming almost inevitable in development of latest projects all over the world due to its Ultra Rich library (i mean it) and RAD (Rapid Application Development) feature.

Now for the critics saying that since .Net belonging to Microsoft is limited to Windows OS, i would like to bring this point to your notice that there is something being developed in Linux called Mono (which will aid in running .Net application in Linux alike Windows - Though it is still under construction :) but still there is high chances that .Net will be able to compete with other languages with are OS independent).

And even OS independent language needs something else to be installed in all system like JVM for Java.

Now Why C# ..... I feel it is mixture of C++ (OOPS) with JAVA style (Automatic Garbage Collection) and to transport all the legacy code to C# it becomes more easy i feel (Sorry if am wrong).

I am not a supporter of .Net but an admirer of its richness. Hope you all like this post :)

New Age Operating System....

Midori from Microsoft

Midori has been reported to be a possible commercial successor to the Singularity operating system, a research project started in 2003 to build a highly-dependable operating system in managed code.
Midori from Microsoft
Microsoft is working on a managed-mode operating system, code-named Midori. Managed mode is a computer program code that executes under the management of a virtual machine, unlike an unmanaged code, which is executed directly by the computer's CPU.
Midori has been reported to be a possible commercial successor to the Singularity operating system, a research project started in 2003 to build a highly-dependable operating system in which the kernel, device drivers, and applications are all written in managed code.
According to Microsoft, Midori is being designed from the ground up to tackle challenges that cannot be met by simply evolving its existing technology. Midori's proposed design is Internet-centric and provides an overall "connectedness" between applications and devices. When Windows was first designed, there was no "Internet" as we understand it today, and things were added later in patches. With the Midori however, it will focus on concurrency for both distributed applications and local ones.
Eric Rudder, Senior Vice President for technical strategy at Microsoft and an alumnus of Bill Gates' technical staff, is heading up the effort.
No time frame for development has been set for Midori as its considered a 'research project' at the moment, according to Microsoft technical fellow Burton Smith. A spokesperson added that Midori is one of many projects in incubation at Microsoft Research.

Get Answered.....

  • Core 2 Duo or Dual Core: The Core 2 Duo is Intel's second generation (Hence, Core 2) processor made for desktops and laptops designed from the ground up to be fast while not consuming nearly as much power as previous CPUs, Dual core is simply a generic term referring to any processor package with two physical CPUs in one.
  • Dual Core is better because it has 2 processors. The more the better. (Dell has a Quad Core, 4, processor computer and Mac has a Dual Quad Core processor, yes 8 processors). The main difference is that core duo is 32-bit processor, where as Core 2 Duo is 64-it processor, also for Core 2 Duo, the cache memory is 4MB compared to 2MB of Core Duo.
  • DMA is an essential feature of all modern computers, as it allows devices to transfer data without subjecting the CPU to a heavy overhead. Otherwise, the CPU would have to copy each piece of data from the source to the destination. This is typically slower than copying normal blocks of memory since access to I/O devices over a peripheral bus is generally slower than normal system RAM. During this time the CPU would be unavailable for any other tasks involving CPU bus access, although it could continue doing any work which did not require bus access.
  • A DMA transfer essentially copies a block of memory from one device to another. While the CPU initiates the transfer, it does not execute it. For so-called "third party" DMA, as is normally used with the ISA bus, the transfer is performed by a DMA controller which is typically part of the motherboard chipset. More advanced bus designs such as PCI typically use bus mastering DMA, where the device takes control of the bus and performs the transfer itself.
  • DMA can lead to cache coherency problems. Imagine a CPU equipped with a cache and an external memory, which can be accessed directly by devices using DMA. When the CPU accesses location X in the memory, the current value will be stored in the cache. Subsequent operations on X will update the cached copy of X, but not the external memory version of X. If the cache is not flushed to the memory before the next time a device tries to access X, the device will receive a stale value of X.
  • A level 1 (L1) cache is a memory bank built into the CPU chip. A level 2 cache (L2) is a secondary staging area that feeds the L1 cache. Increasing the size of the L2 cache may speed up some applications but have no effect on others. L2 may be built into the CPU chip, reside on a separate chip in a multichip package module (see MCP) or be a separate bank of chips on the motherboard. Caches are typically static RAM (SRAM), while main memory is generally some variety of dynamic RAM (DRAM).
  • The IA-32 Execution Layer is a software driver for Windows Server 2003 that improves performance of 32-bit applications running on 64-bit Intel Itanium-based systems. The IA-32 EL is a software emulator, which bypasses the slower hardware emulation of the Itanium.
  • The Northbridge is the controller that interconnects the CPU to memory via the frontside bus (FSB). It also connects peripherals via high-speed channels such as AGP and PCI Express. The Northbridge may include a display controller, obviating the need for a separate display adapter. The Southbridge controller handles the remaining I/O, including the PCI bus, parallel and Serial ATA drives (IDE), USB, FireWire, serial and parallel ports and audio ports. Earlier chipsets supported the ISA bus in the Southbridge. Starting with Intel's 8xx chipsets, Northbridge and Southbridge were changed to Memory Controller and I/O Controller.

Southbridge Connects CPU to:· ATA (IDE) Drives· USB bus· FireWire bus· Serial port· Parallel port· Built-in audio· ISA bus (earlier PCs)
